LIZ BRUCE has given me enormous guidance, i.e., appropriate monologue material selection, what to expect at various kinds of audition situations, resume organization, even the finer points of professional "etiquette". I started out completely ill at ease with performing monologues, and thanks to Liz's encouragement, insight and feedback, I am now able to walk into an audition confident that I've done my homework and that I'm prepared in every way. She was even wise enough to "push me out of the nest" when it was time for me to go out and really audition for work. As a result of her coaching, I have had numerous callbacks and have been cast in four different projects in the last four months.
Jacqueline Therieau, ActressI had been failing at TV auditions over the past month. In a panic, I called Liz the night before a big audition. With her guidance, she helped me develop and shape my technique for this audition. With renewed enthusiasm and confidence I literally attacked the audition piece and won my first principal role for a TV commercial. If it wasn't for Liz Bruce and her ability to diagnose my actor's block(s) and quickly and effectively mend it; I would never have won the many TV commercial and industrial roles I have to my credit.
Joe Plati, ActorI have worked with Liz many times, both under her direction and along side her as part of a directorial team. Liz consistently achieves a professional level in all that she does. Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence are second to none. She always has a clear vision which she is able to communicate easily, and she has a deep respect for individual talent. Working with her, both on stage and off, is a joy!
Linda Cardoni, Actress and DirectorLiz Bruce has taught me more in four months than I have learned in four years of trying to prepare myself for play auditions. For years, I auditioned only for musical theater and avoided auditions that required monologues like the plague! I was too inhibited and found it very hard to relax. Liz handled my fears and inhibitions so profession-ally and compassionately that for the first time in my life I was able to let go and just do it. I now have three monologues under my belt, two of which Liz found for me and they are working fabulously! I feel completely confident that I am fully prepared for every audition that I go to! Thank you, Liz! Robin Orloff, Actress
I've collaborated with Liz Bruce many times. In fact, several of those times, when I had gotten a position as musical director, I requested that Liz be asked to direct. She understands as well as any director I've worked with what's required from all angles--from how a play looks, to how it moves (she's a fantastic and creative choreographer), to what it means, to how to get meaningful and quality performances from the actors, to dealing with all the personalities in front of and behind the curtain, to the right balance of fun and work. She also understands the collaboration process extremely well. I recommend her highly.
Don Boroson, Music DirectorMy fifteen year old daughter Ashlee has received instruction one hour a week for approximately one year from Liz. Ashlee's confidence in herself, especially at auditions, has improved remarkedly. Through Liz's guidance and patience Ashlee has mastered several scripts and can speak with an authentic English accent. Thank you Liz, you've done a wonderful job.
Rachael L. Gallagher, Mother of Ashlee Gallagher (who was accepted to Shakespeare & Youth Company 2000)Liz's coaching has provided me the opportunity to perform with confidence, expertise, and freedom. Liz brings professionalism, directness and enthusiasm to all her efforts.
Sally Anne Brown, SingerLiz Bruce is very candid and constuctive in her approach to actor training. She is consistant, honorable and comfortable to study with. She openly shares the wealth of her skills and experiences with you. I recommend her as a coach to anyone seeking one on one coaching or those looking for a breakthrough in their acting careers.
Ritza Elizabeth, ActressLiz is one of the very finest directors I have ever worked with in my 24 years of acting. She has a rare ability to work with actors to understand and develop their characters.
Michael Bailit, ActorI worked with Liz for the first time in a production of On the Town for the Newton Country Players. Among other things, I had to perform a nine minute ballet with my love interest in the show. Although there were sections with an ensemble, the brunt of the dance was just the two of us. I had not done any kind of ballet (not to imply that I was ever accomplished) in 15 years. Liz really spent a lot of time working with me on both the dance steps as well as my character while dancing. This is one of the signs of a good choreographer. Many people choreograph only to the music and do not consider the background of the character dancing. Liz is able to do this beautifully. She acted as psychologist when I had doubts about my abilities as a dancer as well as dealing with a weight issue that I had at the time. She really challenged me by not compromising the combination of steps but having faith that I would eventually get it and look good doing it. I am anxious to work with Liz again in a dancing role.
